Here’s a sneak preview of my photos of the tulip fields…
Roozengaard Tulip Gardens
I picked up my aunts and my mom bright and early on Friday morning and we hit the road with coffee and trail mix. It was a perfectly lovely day. We took the scenic drive north this year, rather than taking I5. I’d say it took us about 15 minutes longer than it normally does, but it was worth the extra time. The back road drive is beautiful. Slow at times, but beautiful.
It was really cold in the morning. We walked around a small garden and decided we were freezing. LOL Okay, so it was in the 40s but we were cold. So we drove around looking at all the fields, barns, cows, and gardens, then we stopped for lunch.
We strolled around Roozengaard gardens during the warm afternoon sunshine. The gardens are amazing this year. However, they are more crowded than I’ve ever seen them before. We skipped going to Tulip Town on this day, but as we drove by, we can see their tulip fields are beautiful too.
My dear hubby said go… enjoy the day. He told me he’d fend for himself. Wow. I loved that! I called a couple times just to be sure and he told me the boys had something to eat, and he would find things to do for the evening. So we made a really long day of it. We stopped into a few specialty shops in the late afternoon. Then drove the long windy back roads home. I was home by nine last night.
I feel very refreshed after a relaxing day in the gardens. I will post a big batch of photos later in the week.

Friday, February 29, 2008 was a great day! I tagged along with hubby and our oldest son, as they headed out to a project in the works. We were waiting for the GM when I spotted a few potted Orchids. I love orchids. I took a couple shots and was getting ready to get up close and personal when the security guard came up and informed me ‘no camera’s allowed’.
Oops. My bad.
At least he didn’t take my camera away from me.
Camera’s are allowed in the private suites.
The guys made themselves at home in the middle of the space.
I wandered off and enjoyed the views from the 34th? floor… Talk about a room with a view!
At this point, I’m not sure if we are on the 34th, 35th, or 36th floor.
Hey…. guys. Did you notice the view?
I may not know what floor we are on… but I know we are higher than the job site on the top floors of the Sheraton!
Oh look hon… there’s another project you guys are working on!
What fun! I’ve never had the opportunity to have an entire floor of a high rise building to myself for an hour. Okay. An entire floor to myself and the 3 guys… but they were busy… busy… busy… so it may as well have been all to myself.
I loved the corner office! The one with the views of the sound and the Seattle Space Needle. Ohmy gosh! It was so beautiful. Funny thing… it was a little over cast but sunny. Shortly after we left, the black clouds rolled in, along with the rain. Timing was perfect!
What a way to spend an afternoon!
After leaving First Union Square, we stopped by several book stores on the way out of town. If you ever get a chance to stop into the Elliot Bay Book Co. book store by all means do! The building is old and the floors squeek and creak as you walk around. It’s one of those cozy stores, where you find locals sitting on the floor, leaning up against the shelves as they browse through the books. Elliot Bay Book Co. is a wonderful place to visit, but it didn’t make it to my list of favorite book stores. Third Place Books use to be my all time favorite book store… but as it’s become so popular in the past few years, I’m looking for a new favorite.

To view the album, just click on it. I’ll post more photos later… I took way more than I thought I did. That’s the joy of using 2GB cards. I posted another photo slideshow over on the photoblog too… link is in my sidebar.

Yesterday was our 27th wedding anniversary. DH came home from work early and we took off to the city.
We walked along the beach in West Seattle and landed ourselves on a park bench. It’s the middle of Seafair in Seattle. Three small planes (not the blue angels) were practicing for their air show during the hydroplane races. Here’s are a couple of sights we don’t see everyday.
The street life in Ballard is always fun.
We went to Golden Gardens to walk on the sandy beach. The park was packed as usual. But it was worth the wait to find parking. The sand was warm and so soft between my toes. I love walking barefoot in the sand!
I couldn’t resist taking a photo of these children. They were having a good time building sand castles in the water’s edge.
The end of a perfect day…
