Weekend Visitors

Posted in Weekend Wrap-up, Family at 12:34 pm by lilbitgabby

Chris and Jennifer are babysitting part of the time while Mitch and Andi are in Hawaii. Saturday evening we got on the baby-cam with Chris, Jennifer, and baby girl. Oh Jennifer is so cute! Her little baby tummy is so adorable. She stood in the middle of the floor and struck a pose or two for us. It was funny and I was so thrilled to finally see her actually look like she’s going to have a baby in a few months!

It was fun sitting here visiting with Chris and Jennifer. They were having a lot of fun with baby girl. Chris was doing the puttering thing with his lips and she’d copy him. Well, when grandpa did it she looked right into the big screen tv, leaned forward as far as she could, and puttered right back at him. It was so funny!  Her chubby baby cheeks are so cute. She’s so cute and chubby I want to reach out and squeeze her into my arms. I’m glad I have the baby-cam. It is the next best thing to being there. We disconnected just as baby girl was going to sleep for the night.

Our family room visit with Chris and Jennifer was the perfect ending to a gray rainy Saturday.

I don’t know what time Aaron & Lisa made it home, but the boys safely made it home around ten-ish last night. They said they had a great time. The purpose of the trip to Oregon was for a graduation and party for one of our friends. I wish we could have gone too.  We didn’t go because we had visiting brethren in from Indiana for church on Sunday.

I’m so glad we stayed! Our Sunday meeting was very uplifting and our visitors from Indiana spent the afternoon with all of us. The visitors included an elderly married couple, and two elderly twin sisters. They are the sweetest people to have visit. We haven’t seen them in years, so it was wonderful spending our Sunday with them. The twins sense of humor is so cute, they are just fun to visit with. Every time I’ve seen them through the years they are dressed alike. They all saw our kids, Andi, Mitch, and baby girl last weekend when the kids were in Indiana for a wedding. Sometimes I think it’s a small world amongst our church.

As I wrap up here, It’s one of those days. My goodness, I miss my kids. Chris, Jennifer, Andi, Mitch, and the baby…. I can sit here and continue crying in the keyboard or I can go bury myself into my housework and thank God we have the ability to communicate with them as often as we do.

Memorial Weekend

Posted in Weekend Wrap-up at 11:18 am by lilbitgabby

We decided nearly last minute to go to church camp with the boys this year. Unbelievable how much effort goes into getting ready for camping. List making, menu planning, shopping, more shopping, packing suitcases, loading the vehicles. Why do we torture ourselves in such a way? Because the end result is camp and camp is always fun!

We loaded the car on Thursday night. Our intentions were to leave Thursday night… that didn’t happen. Everything was ready to go by 8:00 but instead of leaving we had a relaxing dinner out with my mom.

Friday morning bright and early DH packed the ice chest. Just like he packed the car. Never a good idea. I made him step away from the ice chest and I reloaded it so everything would fit. T- loaded it into the car then DH and I hit the road.

B- had to work a few hours so the boys didn’t get on the road till about 1:00. Oh that is whole ‘nother story in itself! They boys had friends from Oregon stay over and they were riding with B- to the camp grounds. We were expecting them into camp by 8 - 9ish that night. We were expecting A&L and family into camp by midnight. NO phone service at camp so we didn’t know what was going on. I didn’t sleep at all because they weren’t there. They made it safely sometime after 3 in the morning! Like I said… it is a whole long story involving a car breaking down at the rest area on Stevens Pass, more family coming to help out, meeting up with everyone in Brewster. At least they were all safe.

DH and I drove across the North Cascade Hwy and Loup Loup Hwy to camp. Beautiful drive! We stopped along the way and enjoyed a short hike. It was beautiful scenery. I’ll post photos later.

The weekend was wonderful. We caught up with friends and family from all over the states. Kids of all ages enjoyed volleyball tournaments, softball, hiking, singing, bike riding, etc…

We camped in the same cabin room as our kids. Our room was adjacent to a long room with more families. There were several babies and toddlers all under one roof. The rafters are open so you can hear everything in the cabin. It was sweet hearing the baby coos and giggles as they were waking up in the morning. I love that sound… I miss that early morning ritual. I miss it, but not enough to go back and do it all over again. I’m happy being a grandma!

DH and I left early. We came back the same way we travelled over. There was a lot more traffic on the way home. In fact, on the way over there was little traffic. Probably because we got such an early start.

Our boys were traveling with friends. They came back through Wenatchee where they all stopped and hung out for awhile. They travelled over Blewett Pass to Snoqualmie and home. They weren’t home till after midnight. Late night for a school & work night. I think we are all caught up on sleep now.

lilbits of This ‘n That

Posted in Weekend Wrap-up, Family at 4:17 pm by lilbitgabby

Oh my goodness I have so much to talk about. I’m playing catch up today. Catching up with my kids, catching up with the laundry, catching up with the gardening, etc…

Saturday: DH and I left bright and early on Saturday morning for a micro-mini cruise with Holland America. Twice a year the ships are repositioned from the Eastern Seaboard to Seattle for the Alaska cruise season. We were lucky enough to be on the last leg of the repositioning of the Noordam. Ohmygosh! It’s a beautiful ship!

Our stateroom was gorgeous! We really enjoyed the private verandah! I’ve always heard you don’t need more than an inside cabin because you don’t spend that much time in your room anyway…. well that just isn’t so! Okay if we had an inside cabin we wouldn’t have spent much time in the room. But with the beautiful views and room service it was perfectly romantic. I could go on and on about the ship, food, entertainment, service, views, etc… I’ll post photos later.

Sunday - Mother’s Day: We were off the ship and headed out of Seattle by 10:45 AM. We were late to church but we went anyway.  After church we had a BBQ with friends and family. We also celebrated my oldest kiddo’s birthday… just a few days late. He was born on mother’s day - yeah! One of the best mother’s day gifts any mom can ask for.

We left the kids house at 5:00 and drove north to the Skagit Valley Casino to see Glen Campbell and his daughter Debby. DH is a huge fan. I know all the songs, but I can’t say I was a huge fan… just a fan. Our tickets were for row 13…. not awful tickets, but certainly not great tickets. We were happy to see the country radio KMPS  crew at the door. We were visiting with them and filling out a contest form when they generously decided to upgrade our tickets. 5th row! DH got some great photos during the concert… 5th row! Glen Campbell even shook DH’s hand! I’m surprised DH washed… lol JK!! It was a great night!! I’ll post photos later…

Monday: It was a beautiful day! We slept in till about 8:00 then headed out for a relaxing day with no plans what-so-ever. I just love days without plans. We had breakfast at Jeno’s in Monroe… the locals were coming in for lunch by the time we got there.

From Jeno’s we drove up to Snoqualmie falls. The falls were beautiful as usual. Everything was getting sprayed with a fine mist. It was really peaceful. We drove the back roads from the Fall City to Granite Falls. I don’t know what back roads, but I know we didn’t take any highways.

By this time we had a plan… Granite Falls to Darrington… but as it turned out our plans didn’t work out anyway. The road we were planning on taking was washed out a couple years ago.

At this point having no plan seemed to be the best plan for the day.

We didn’t make it to Darrington. Instead we drove out the Jordan Road and stopped at the bridge. I love the bridge… it swings and sways as you walk across it! We ended up having dinner at a casino out in the middle of nowhere. Angel of the Wings??? I think that is the name of the place. Good, cheap food…. really cheap. We ate for under $4.00 for the two of us! WOW… from there we headed back in the direction of home. We stopped at Kat’s softball game. Kat’s team won by a 10 run rule so the game ended early.

Today I’ve been playing catch up. DH and a kiddo are going to the mariner game. I think I’m going to catch up on some sleep… I will post photos later.

Dive Bombing Bird

Posted in Weekend Wrap-up at 7:39 am by lilbitgabby

Oh the joys of nature! Our dive bombing robin has babies in her nest! I didn’t realize she had the nest long enough to lay an egg… seems like just yesterday she was gathering materials to build the nest. She’s such a good mommy trying to protect her little ones…

Okay so now onto the weekend wrap-up. Saturday I woke up and my headache was gone for the most part. DH worked all day leaving me to do whatever I wanted to do. Turns out I wanted to watch scrapbooking on QVC. Hours of Brenda Walton and Creating Keepsakes with Lisa Bearnson. But the icing on the cake STS… a full hour of Anna Griffin. I love, love, love her design products and ideas!

As far as really getting anything done, it was a very unproductive day. Oh wait… we did manage to get the trailer of trash hauled off, thanks to my oldest kiddo.

Susan’s DH, son, and her grandson made the trip out okay. We spent the day with them yesterday. They are on their way home again today. It was great seeing them on this short trip out here. Susan will be happy. Her daddy’s tractor will be back there in time for the parade!

I’m off… I haven’t finished my morning routine yet. Oh-no! Blogging before the dishwasher is started…
