A few weeks ago my guys all went fishing for salmon. T-man (far right) caught the biggest fish of all the guys in this group. It was his first time deep sea fishing. So if you hang out long enough, you may just hear him telling a “fish this big….” story.
Even Burgandy caught a salmon! How fun is that!
Mmm… there isn’t anything better than wild salmon!

Lisa’s 40th birthday was last weekend. Aaron sent me a text about 4:00 in the afternoon asking if I could put together a little surprise party for that night. They were in Brewster and he figured they would be home about 7:00. Well… I got right on it. Called a few people, picked up a few decorations, a big batch of cupcakes, and ice cream, and we had a party that night. We had everyone park just around the corner at the high school and Tman shuttled them to the house for the party.
I think she was really surprised. It was a fun little last minute get together. The last minute get togethers are often the best kind…
Family, friends, yummy food, and fun visiting…. it doesn’t get much better! I will be posting a photo slide show on my photo blog Life Is Good.

This past Saturday and Sunday we got to keep our little MisterMan. The little man was in Grandpa’s arms as his mommy and daddy walked out the door. There were hugs and kisses and a super sweet little ”luv you”. When they got into the truck he was waving bye and blowing kisses. He continued to blow kisses and wave as they drove up the drive.
It was adorable.

He played outside with his Uncle Tman, he played inside with Grandma and Grandpa.
It was nearly bedtime when MisterMan stopped what he was doing. He was standing in the middle of the room. His eyes filled with tears, but he didn’t cry. He looked at his grandpa and asked in the saddest little baby voice “where’s momay” Kevin told him he’d see his mommy tomorrow. He repeated the sad little “where’s momay”. It was so sad, I wanted to cry. I said as bright as I could to the little man.. “You get to stay with Grandma and Grandpa tonight” His reaction was so cute. He said in a somewhat surprised tone “ohhh” and all was well in his world. He went on playing.
Shortly after that he snuggled into Grandpa’s lap with a bottle and a blanket. He slept all through the night. We were up and around and to church on time. It was quite the change of pace for us. Not that we haven’t had a baby in the house before… but it’s been awhile!
Grandma and Grandpa both are looking forward to the next time the little man can stay with us!

Last year one of our neighbors gave me a batch of Amish friendship starter. It’s not a yeast starter. The concept is much like the sourdough starter, in that it is passed around from one homemaker to another homemaker.
The Amish friendship bread is very rich. It’s dense and moist, sweet, and has a cinnamon flavor. Yummy. Of course the cinnamon can be omitted.
Why am I talking about friendship bread now? Because I watched Martha Stewart today. Oh you know me. I watch Martha every day. I tuned in a couple minutes late, but apparently a little gal gave Martha a batch of Amish friendship bread starter. I wonder if Martha is really going to continue the starter and pass it around to her friends.
If you are lucky enough to receive a bag of Amish friendship bread starter, but you need the instructions to take care of the starter, to make the bread, or need to print out extra instructions to pass out to your friends, I posted the directions for taking care of the starter on my website last year. Directions for Amish Friendship Bread
When I’m baking the bread, my home smells so yummy. Now that’s an amazing home fragrance… it’s a good thing.
