"The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly
smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that
someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~
Friendship Is a Blessing
Friendship is a blessing
it's the best you have to share,
The talents and the wisdom,
the capacity to care...
It's being there to lend support,
whatever needs arise,
It's making sure that others know
they're special in your eyes...
Friendship is a blessing,
and, to all who have a friend,
It's one of the most precious gifts
that life could ever send.

The Glory of Friendship

How Great Thou Art was one of my dad's favorite songs... I can still remember him singing "Oh Lord My God...
As far as I'm concerned there is nothing more wonderful than our dear brethren's singing, but this is a nice version by Loretta Lynn.
My dad taught me to enjoy one of the simplest pleasures in life... to sit quietly as we watch the sunset at the end of the day. It's a time to reflect on the day and draw close to God. Kevin and I enjoy our sunset picnics. Usually we are talking about our day, our plans, our hopes and dreams... but sometimes we enjoy the sunset in total silence... sometimes with friends... most times together.
Two years ago the kids came home for our anniversary. The day we dropped the kids off at the airport was difficult for us. We gathered two of our good friends, a few picnic items, and headed up to Rosario beach for a sunset picnic. We set up our little picnic and settled in to relax. A small group of people came down to the park and had a picnic just a few feet away from us. As the sun was setting lower in the sky, the sky was brilliant red. I've honestly never seen anything as beautiful in my entire life.
The group of people at the other table took out their instruments. At first we weren't sure what to think, but then they started to sing songs I have known and loved all my life. They sang Amazing Grace, and a few other songs. Their voices were absolutely beautiful as they were practicing their harmonizing.
Just as the sun was setting behind the far distant horizon, they started singing How Great Thou Art. I felt so blessed... like God had brought these people to the beach as a comfort just for me. It brought tears to my eyes then... it brings tears to my eyes every time I think about that evening on the beach at sunset.
I'm posting this here because I haven't figured out how to post the videos on lilbits.
I have been so distracted I forgot to take photos of my lilies when they were blooming so beautifully. Tonight when we came home I snapped a few photos.
